Capability

“What are you going to write a book on?” Asked my friend at brunch on Saturday.

“Well, I am not sure a publisher would be happy with this answer, but I don’t really know yet.
I have the capability but not the focus.”

I’ve been reflecting on this since - the relationship between capability and focus. Capability sits as a potential to be activated by me. Focus is the destination (not necessarily defined) where I can channel energy and enthusiasm to work with my ability as a writer. Executing on a capability is what I feel brings fulfillment into your life. It’s why when you do strength training for some time or practice yoga regular, your body really appreciates it.

It’s been resting, waiting to be activated.

I think the same can be said for many things.

Sometime’s the focus should be just on the practice, not just the “what” you wish to explore.
